I blame Errol Morris for me becoming an editor
Back in the day I was one of those pale teenagers who hung around the AV department at school, volunteering to operate video cameras for dramatic productions and speech nights. Around this time, I saw Errol Morris’ masterpiece The Thin Blue Line, a documentary which was the catalyst for overturning the conviction of an alleged murderer. The films’ memorable style, structure and storytelling kickstarted my love of non-fiction filmmaking.
Fast forward to a few years later and my short experimental film Hounded won the documentary section of the National Student Film Festival. This win helped me get accepted into the Masters of Documentary Editing course at AFTRS, learning from industry experts and veterans.
After film school I cut my teeth on a range of broadcast productions, including a stint in Alice Springs working at CAAMA on two films including The Good, The Bad and the Loud with director Warwick Thornton.
Since then, I’ve specialised in documentary and factual productions, editing on high-profile international success stories such as Mythbusters, intense first-person storytelling in Australia’s Great Flood and the graphic forensic investigation Anatomy of a Massacre.
I’m a creative collaborator who can help you tell your story
My background in creative arts, as a musician and visual artist, informs my understanding of editing rhythms and an appreciation for detail. It also helps me bring a nuanced perspective to my work about what works best sonically and visually, in order to build an engaging story.
